+Dave Satun Under Trump the US is becoming even more like a third world country. Steal from the treasury to give extra billions to billionaires. That will be costing America for decades. Shit on the poor, bend the law, lie and steal, promote hate as your biggest ideal.

Honestly, you were not a dick as you put it, you did the right thing by both of you. Too many people get married for all the wrong reasons and end up divorced because of it. You had the balls to deal with it before you get married which ok at the time causes heartache, but divorce brings so much more and can end up effecting more people you care about.

a) There's nothing insane about working overseas after college b) getting married at 22 is a pretty great recipe for infidelity and c) you never ever have to do what society tells you to. Most people who pressure you to live the 9-5 are bored af.

You seem like a nice guy but my sympathy is with your fiancée. I am a person who was betrayed by the love of my life and it was devastating to an inexpressible degree - that was 23 years ago and I still haven't got over it and I never will.

My ancestors left that craphole when Communists took over. I can never go back. It was nice to visit though. I don’t have any relations with anyone there so the government can’t blackmail me. Good luck.

Laowhy86, I have felt that surge of feeling, too. I was on a ferry, crossing the Aegean (with my bike well strapped down). I was leaning on the rail looking at the islands in the greek sun, and I thought to myself: Why am I even thinking of going back? This ia sll so beautiful. I had good reason to return (a new engine to develop). but that instant has never left me. it's printed on my emotions. I dig you bro.

I don't think you were a dick, more just hypnotized by your culture. And then.you woke up! Seriously, in it's own small way you had a kensho. If you'd married her both of you would have ended up miserable and eventually gotten divorced. Interesting how so much of what you deep down would want showed up almost immediately. Great story!

I’m quite new to this channel so I don’t know all of your stories and your whole journey. I found this actually because I study Sinology and wanted to know more about people who moved to China and how they feel about China. I think your story is really inspiring because it shows that if you want to archive happiness you have to be mean sometimes and selfish because in the end it’s not what other people expect of you that is the right thing to do but what you expect of yourself. In my opinion you haven’t been a douche or anything you just didn’t know before what it actually was that would make you happy but now you found it and she found it as well. I’m really impressed and hope for myself that I can make similar decisions in my life later on, decisions that are right for me. This is a great video and as I said really inspiring.

In 1997 I married a crazy girl and ran away to China for a year. The experience changed a lot for me. I realized a lot of things about myself. I moved back to the USA in1998 and my life hasn't been the same since. Everyone thought i was crazy when I left. I ended up splitting from the wife, but the experiences I had in China we so amazing. I wouldn't trade them for the world.

You were a dick but it was the right thing to do for you and probably for your ex as well. Sometimes we don't know why the train of life switches tracks when we least expect it. I think it is best to be the conductor and take control of where you want to go rather than riding and hoping it will shift tracks and take you in the right direction.

i sowed all my wild oats with the US Air Force. i’ve been around the world twice, retired from the military and took a civilian job, retired from that job too. i had the husband and two children, but dear ex-husband found someone new and i raised our children on my own. now fully retired, children done with medical school, zero debt, now it’s my turn for fun. i would have been more up front with your ex-fiancé — that must have sucked on so many levels. but it probably hurt less than my divorce after 12 years! if G-d wants me to have another husband, that man will show up. if not, i’m happy how things are now. ps: my family was beyond shocked when they found out i’d be a fighter pilot!!!

You talking about things that seem crazy to most reminded me of when it finally hit my parents that that was really happening - and cried at the airport when I left for Canada. No luck with women though to this day. And so I keep moving. Well - not just because of women. People in general. Hoping that one day I'll stumble across a bunch of weirdos like me.

A coworker married a Taiwanese lady he met on business trip. He was a white red head. He said to me one day of his new born baby, he looks so Asian. Ha ha.

Nice video dude. You seem like a really nice and genuine dude who really likes China as opposed to a foreign who feels uppity and superior to asian people(aka. Logan Paul). For that I give you thumbs up. Also you are a smart guy who graduated Columbia with a computer science degree but chose to follow your heart to teach English in China, I also give you thumbs up for that. Good luck with your future life and your wife.

I just found your channel today and have been watching your videos all day long. Just finished this video and I can not comment you high enough for the decision you made to change your life. It took a lot of courage even though I'm sure there are some people that would say just the opposite. I did something similar, but on a smaller scale. I didn't leave the USA. In fact I didn't even leave the state of Michigan, but I moved just about as far as possible within the state, (at least at that time) about 650 miles leaving a job, friends, and loved ones. Your family is beautiful and I hope the rest of your life is happy and eventful.

I went through something very similar. I graduated college and was looking to move back home before getting my own place. The pressure my parents and girlfriend would have put on me in that month would have had me moving away preemptively anyway. I chose a school in China and I am so happy with my life here. Miss my family a lot, but I know when I go home next year it will make my experience in America that much sweeter. Thanks for the video bud. Best of luck

Do you believe in fate, destiny, Buddha's teaching? You can look up Zen Buddhism. It is not a religion. In LIFE we face with a lot of tough choices. We make tough calls while we don't know the outcome. There are ways to help us go through what we think maybe right, one way is to see your conscience and stay firm (but how do we know the conscience we feel is right?). Conventional logic is great but can be limiting. There is no US, no China, but a human race, yourself, your life. And how do we live our lives to the fullest? You are an interesting being. You traveled afar from the other side of earth to China. China is happy to have you, and you are happy to have China. You have my best wishes.

Thanks for sharing the story. Always difficult to make a big decision in the moment, but in this case sounds like the right one for everyone in the long term. Or maybe that's just how life works sometimes. I had the opportunity to live in Singapore for 4 years and loved it. Best part was being able to raise our two teenage sons their during high school years. They are both back in the States now going to uni, but their ability to relate and converse with people from all walks of life is off the charts. Some of that is inate, my youngest would sit next to strangers on planes just to strike up a conversation. When he was 6. It's really unexplainable, but the experiences they had just can't be duplicated. And not all of them were great. It can be pretty scary living in a strange land. It's not for everyone. I worked with a lot of expats, some got out early because it was too much, others just didn't like Asia and from their perspectives it made perfect sense to leave. I loved it. I found it completely fascinating and something that forever changes your view of the globe you inhabit. A lot can be learned from Asian cultures. There are thousands of years of wisdom behind much if it.

Wow, what a delusional narcissistic a-hole. He didn't do the logical thing and find himself ?! This guy is a terrible person and he should feel bad. Take responsibility for your actions. Don't ruin someone's life because you can't stop obsessing over your own fleeting desires. What are you going to do to your current wife and children when things get overbearingly difficult?.Probably run away from them as well.

You may feel like a dick but you most definitely saved you and your ex-fiance from a misreable marriage and life. I have seen relationships where it was very obvious that one person wanted it more than the other and for whatever reason they stayed together but it was never fully happy and it didn't last long.

Smegma Poppins 12 days ago
Totally understandable. Marriage, as we understand it, is entirely unnatural and is a horrible cage, for younger people in particular, designed to serve pyramidal hierarchical societies. And leaving your betrothed at the alter is far better than imprisoning them into cohabitation with someone who does not want to be there. However, marriage in the late Autumn of life, when the sap is no longer striving to rise as intensely, can be a blessing. Extract of Nordic Wisdom. 82 Hew wood in wind, sail the seas in a breeze, woo a maid in the dark, - for day's eyes are many, - work a ship for its gliding, a shield for its shelter, a sword for its striking, a maid for her kiss;

In my case, I took a job in England and told my boyfriend, “If it’s meant to be, it’ll outlast a 3-year separation.” It didn’t. And maybe no relationship would, because he certainly assumed I was moving as a cowardly way to break up with him. He was not anyone I should have married, and ‘desperate times call for desperate measures.’ I’m glad I broke away from him, even if I lost some self-respect by the way I did it.

This video is basically a refelection of myself but I look like you. The biggest message to take from this video is - Dont let living life get in the way of living your life. One thing that they dont teach you in college is that you get two types of lives, you get the life the society wants you to live or you can choose to live your own individual life and do what makes you as an individual a happy person.
