I took the flash memory chips from a broken iPhone 6 and turned it into a working USB flash drive in the electronics markets in Huaqiangbei in Shenzhen, China. I ran across the bare circuit board to do this during my previous iPhone storage upgrade video, and I just had to try it. Buy this microscope on AliExpress: --- An in-depth look into the microscope I use for iPhone modifications, soldering, and other electronics adventures, and how you can buy one from SueMay, the seller I bought mine from in the Huaqiangbei electronics markets in Shenzhen, China. We randomly found a cashier-less, employee-less convenience store in Yiwu, China, and of course we had to try it out. But once we did, I was dying to know more about how the technology worked. So I took some of the RFID tags back to my apartment in Shenzhen, and started taking things apart! This is the last video from my trip to Yiwu, China with Collin Abroadcast. to buy your own wireless charging kit! You guys have been asking me for a long while now - Is it possible to add wireless charging to an older iPhone? Could you add wireless charging to an iPhone 7 or even a 6s? But it sounded pretty hard, so I held off. But I recently got a twitter DM from a Chinese guy named Yeke, who said he'd designed a circuit board (flex PCB) to do just this. So of course I had to go meet him, and try it for myself, which of course started me on an unexpect journey through the cell phone world of Huaqiangbei. This is my journey in Shenzhen, China to learn how to upgrade the memory in my iPhone 6s from 16GB to 128GB. I've been hearing for several years that this was something the repair shops here in Huaqiangbei could do, and I'd even seen one do it to a friends phone, so naturally, I had to learn how to do it myself. It was harder than I thought. Share this video: Subscribe to the channel here: This is part 3 of my custom iPhone series. I built a like-new(but really refurbished) iPhone 6S 16GB entirely from parts I bought in the public cell phone parts markets in Huaqiangbei. And it works! How much did it cost? Answer here: I've been fascinated by the cell phone parts markets in Shenzhen, China for a while. I'd walked through them a bunch of times, but I still didn't understand basic things, like how they were organized or who was buying all these parts and what they were doing with them. So when someone mentioned they wondered if you could build a working smartphone from parts in the markets, I jumped at the chance to really dive in and understand how everything works. Well, I sat on it for nine months, and then I dove in.
